University Centers for Career Development (UCCD)
AUC marked a milestone in its mission to expand its outreach and services, implementing a project that will impact roughly 1 million students at public universities. Building on the success of AUC’s Career Center in establishing three pilot Employability and Career Development Centers at Ain Shams and Suez Canal universities, AUC was awarded on September 20, 2017 a cooperative agreement by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement the University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) Program. Over the course of four years, the project will establish 21 UCCDs at 13 public universities in Upper Egypt, the Delta and the greater Cairo area, with funding from USAID.
The project aims at building the capacity of the UCCD staff, analyze labor market needs, and provide students – including students with disabilities with a wide spectrum of career and recruitment services to equip them with the employability skills sought by the job market and link them to employment opportunities.
To date, the AUC UCCD project team has successfully established 18 sustainable University Centers for Career Development at Ain Shams (Faculty of Commerce), Alexandria, Aswan, Beni Suef, Mansoura, Menoufia, Minia, Sadat City, Sohag, Tanta, and Zagazig Universities.
