Bain & Company Hires AUC Talented Students
On September 22, Bain & Company visited The American University in Cairo (AUC) as part of AUC Career Center’s campus recruitment events. Their corporate presentation was the kickoff of a series of engagements, followed by a networking hour, the Women@Bain event, “Be a Bainie for the Day” case competitions and campus interviews.
Since 2006, AUC Career Center has been hosting Bain & Company’s regional team on an annual basis. The corporate presentation provided AUC students with the unique opportunity to get to know more about Bain & Company, as well as full-time and internship opportunities available to them. AUC students and graduates were given time to ask questions to the company representatives, many of whom were AUC alumni themselves.
Like every year, representatives from the firm spoke highly of AUC as a target campus for Bain & Company and of having a considerable number of AUC alumni amongst their regional teams. “We take great pride in having 35-40 AUC alumni amongst our team in Bain & Company Middle East.” those were the opening words of George Keriakos, AUC alumnus and partner at Bain & Company.
Keriakos highlighted that Bain & Company is one of the largest organizations globally to offer “elite” consultancy services. He then added, “The most compelling differentiation about Bain & Company and what actually makes clients choose us, is that we always put people first.” Another aspect of Bain & Company that Keirokos made sure the audience was aware of, is how unique the office culture at Bain & Company is. “By being part of the Middle East office, you officially become part of something bigger-a global organization, where the culture of the Middle Eastern office meets other cultures.”
Yasmin Abougazia, an AUC alumna and a consultant at Bain & Company for around six years, walked the audience through the different hiring opportunities available for AUC students and graduates. Abougazia highlighted many benefits of the internship program, “It is a two-month program where you receive intensive training on how to become a Bain & Company consultant. Upon finishing the program, you might be offered a full-time position at Bain & Company.”
Students who attended the information session mentioned that they were excited to know more about the company because of its prestigious reputation. One student added that the moment he knew an information session for Bain & Company was being held, he immediately decided to attend. He knows people from AUC who work there, and they are sharing insights about the work experience and the work environment there. Another student commented that she would definitely apply for Bain & Company's internship program and that she hopes she can become part of the Bain & Company family as she is particularly interested in accelerated learning.
Bain & Company held a one-hour Women@Bain session on the same day, empowering young females with leadership techniques to excel in their careers, giving them the opportunity to network with female leaders at Bain & Company and better understand how to overcome common challenges.
Within the same weekend, Bain selected 25 AUCians to partake in their annual “Be a Bainie for the Day” case competition, where they experience the life of a consultant up-close and work on solving a business case in a team. Bain & Company's judging panel selected the winning team for this year: Adham Hegazy, Ahmed Abdelkhalek, Hana Elakhras, Kenzy Elgenedy and Nada Shawki.
Candidates applying to internships and full-time roles were given their time to prepare for case interviews and be ready for Bain & Company's recruiting cycle. This November, Bain & Company finalized their hiring process and extended offers to five AUC students and graduates to join their team.
AUC Career Center is proud of the ongoing partnership with Bain & Company, a partnership of trust and strategic alignment yielding outstanding mutual results year after year.
